The reserves
An establishment focused on ethnographic and social issues, the Museum of Walloon Life turns a spotlight on all areas of life in Wallonia. The collection has steadily been built up since the early 20th century so that the institution is now the guardian of a rich variety of heritage. The reserves are presently spread amongst several different sites. A development plan for the decentralised reserve is currently on appraisal. The idea is to gather all the collections together.
Accessibility:
the Museum of Walloon Life reserves are not open to the general public. Researchers and other member of the public have to turn to the Documentation Centre (located in the Chamart house adjoining the actual Museum) for information about objects and documents not on display in the permanent exhibition walkthrough. The Documentation Centre is also the intermediary for loans to outside exhibitions
